Berbera World Aids Day first dec-2020

On Saturday morning 1st December 2020 SRCS Berbera branch with collaboration of SOLNEC (Somaliland National AIDS Commission), provided leadership in coordination of HIV/AIDS programs and activities of all stakeholders in Sahil region through advocacy, joint planning, monitoring and evaluation for the eventual prevention, control of the spread and elimination of the AIDS fighting in Somaliland SRCS and other organization in the region participated 1st December

(World AIDS day). The theme of the year of 2020

SRCS Berbera branch were organised a ceremony of WAD the venue was Branch Berbera office, the participants were SRCS Chairman of Sahil regional committee, SRCS Berbera branch staff/volunteers, member of Berbera city council, this year of 2020.

SRCS Berbera branch organized in the office more than 80 people were participated including Berbera five villages communities committee, SRCS active volunteers, branch staff, SOS organization, SRCS regional committee and other guests.  

 

 Opening Quran for one of the participants from local community committees, Mr. Keyse Mohamed Abdi from Somaliland national Aids Commission, the SRCS Berbera branch Secretary Mr. Hussein addressed the participants the role of SRCS to HIV/AIDS and the activities that SRCS Berbera branch implemented to fight and reduce the stigma/discrimination

 

of PLHWA and support of the HBC care, after that he was deeply explained the risks of the HIV/AIDS especially the youth so he addressed the importance of the 1st December in order to remember those who was discriminated or stigmatised, Mr A/Ladiif  from Berbera regional health Office also explained the role of them of Somaliland about the HIV/AIDS activities for awareness campaign and community mobilization,

Finally, Secretary of Sahil region concluded the ceremony he thanks the organizers of the event and added, that Sahil region will continue to fight against any form of discrimination and will also continue to fight against transmission of HIV/AIDS and he thanks all participants to their support of helping the PWLHA, he took an example in Uganda how they fight to reduce the rate of HIV infected cases as role model on Africa and in the world in general.
